FROM OUR PROJECT COLLECTIONKeep observations separate from assumptions about hidden layers
A report may describe the covering, seams, flashing, edges, drainage and accessible interior evidence. Ask for clear locations and photographs that connect those observations to the question being investigated. Some concealed conditions cannot be established during a visual visit. If further testing, a survey or an opening is recommended, ask what it would answer, its limitations and whether it is included in the agreed fee. This distinction helps avoid treating an observed surface condition as proof that every layer is suitable for a coating, recover or other project that would leave existing materials in place.
