FROM OUR PROJECT COLLECTIONPut a boundary around the initial repair
A limited scope should identify the affected components and how the repair connects to retained materials. Ask whether the surrounding roof is suitable for that connection and which concerns remain outside the agreement. Clarify the opening needed to reach the repair and how additional underlayment or decking damage would be handled if discovered. Those are separate questions: planned access belongs in the initial scope, while new findings may lead to a revised proposal. A clear distinction helps prevent a small repair label from concealing an open ended work commitment or a larger unresolved problem.
