FROM OUR PROJECT COLLECTIONA small repair still needs a complete scope
A repair can be contained when the surrounding roof is suitable for a sound connection. The roofer should consider adjoining materials, not only the visible opening. Ask how much covering must be lifted and whether the work includes underlayment, flashing or damaged decking.
If the neighboring roof cannot support the proposed repair, request an explanation before considering a larger scope. Compare the problem that each option addresses and what remains outside it. The age of the roof can provide context, but it is not by itself a diagnosis of the current leak.
