FROM OUR PROJECT COLLECTIONRemove incompatible assumptions from the repair choice
Earlier repairs may have placed several products over the original roof. Identifying those layers matters before another sealant, flashing repair or coating is proposed. Preparation and adjacent material condition affect whether a new connection can perform as intended. The scope should name the relevant surfaces and the proposed method.
Some defects call for replacement of a flashing detail or removal of damaged roofing beneath it. Others may support a membrane connection repair. A coating can be considered only on a suitable existing system with its preparation needs addressed. Ask why the method is appropriate for the component instead of assuming more surface material always offers more protection.
