FROM OUR PROJECT COLLECTIONCompare what the replacement actually removes
A proposal should identify the covering and layers to be removed, the replacement system and the components that will remain. Ask how the deck will be assessed once it is exposed and how additional wood repairs would be priced. Underlayment, roof edges, flashing and ventilation work deserve their own descriptions because they influence the completed assembly even when they are not visible from the driveway. If two estimates name similar shingles but differ on these components, compare those differences before the totals. Keep any material substitution or newly discovered condition in the written record used to approve the work.
